This elderly patient had periodontal surgery for the deep pockets around his teeth and was very good about trying to maintain periodontal health through frequent periodontal cleanings (every 3 months). Unfortunately, even with all his best efforts and commitment, he developed a serious infection with deep pockets, pus, and heavy bleeding. He was in serious danger of losing this tooth.
He was given the option to have periodontal surgery again, or have the less invasive option of Perioscopy combined with Emdogain (bone regeneration protein gel). He chose to undergo a short appointment, lasting less than an hour.
Just three months later, he returned for a reevaluation and showed amazing results. The pockets completely closed, there was no longer bleeding and infection present, and an x-ray revealed rapid bone regeneration. This patient experienced no pain or sensitivity during or after this simple procedure.
