Periodontal Medicine and the Expanding Role of the Dental Hygienist
As the understanding of the cause of chronic periodontal inflammation evolves, so too has the hygienists’ role in identifying all risk factors and knowing how to therapeutically address them. The dental hygienist is poised to become the internist of periodontal medicine in all practice settings. This information packed course will go beyond biofilm to more completely uncover modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors, leading to more successful long-term management of chronic inflammation. Hygienists are encouraged to bring the entire team!

A New Era in Periodontal Therapy
Are you ready for significant change in clinical dental hygiene? Outspoken clinical pioneer Judy Carroll, RDH, introduces revolutionary strategies in non-surgical periodontal therapy utilizing several advanced methodologies for more targeted and preventative care long term. Learn an entirely new approach to periodontal endoscopy, systematic piezo root instrumentation, host modulated therapy, regenerative proteins, salivary diagnostics, and integrative care through multidisciplinary approach. Raise the bar in your recognition and understanding of periodontal pathogenesis by learning what hidden risk factors you are overlooking every day in clinical practice. Take a peek into the future of a new standard with a demonstration of many “hopeless” cases treated by utilizing advanced synergistic and integrative treatment strategies. Numerous practical applications and nuggets will be presented in this course to help attendees enhance their overall periodontal therapy program while substantially increasing production and career satisfaction. This course will help redefine the dental hygienists scope of practice and significant role in co-therapy. This presentation will bust through century old beliefs and current well defined “in the box” myths and limitations! It’s time for A New Era in Periodontal Therapy with a new era of dental hygienists.

Innovations in Periodontal Therapy - The Future is Now!
Judy Carroll, RDH, Director and Founder
The future is now for revolutionary non-surgical periodontal therapy. A definition of the parameters for use of several advanced technologies will be discussed in this presentation, including periodontal endoscopy, piezo micro-ultrasonic's, host modulated therapy, and regenerative proteins (Emdogain). Take a peek into the future of innovative periodontal therapy as these technologies are pulled together in a '3-pronged approach' with a demonstration of case studies in Regenerative Periodontal Endoscopy (RPE). See first-hand what the future holds for the dental hygiene and/or dentist practitioner in non-surgical regeneration. These evidence based techniques, protocols, and technologies will get you excited about the essential paradigm shift already underway.
Upon completion of this course the student will:
- Understand the limitations of current non-surgical techniques in periodontal therapy and identify the advantages of incorporating endoscopic methodology into daily practice.
- Become more familiar with the literature, biology, and innovative use of host modulated therapy.
- Gain a new understanding of the benefits of piezo root instrumentation over hand scaling and identify the most efficient tips for traditional root planing and endoscopic procedures.
- Understand the science and clinical parameters for using regenerative proteins in non-surgical periodontal therapy.
- Come away with a new definition for "hopeless" periodontitis and endo/perio lesions.

PerioEndoscopy - The Vision of Revolutionary Care
The fascinating future of preventative dentistry and non-surgical periodontics can be seen through the tiny lens of a Dental Endoscope or Perioscope. This incredible technology allows hygienists to play a key role in creating optimal oral health through 'enhanced vision' using powerful subgingival magnification and illumination.
This valuable three hour presentation will explore the many uses of the Perioscope in any practice. Topics to be covered include the following: a definition of the parameters for the clinical application of the dental endoscope in any practice, including therapeutic and diagnostic uses, an exploration of proven protocols for achieving consistently great results, current and future research in Perioscopy, a demonstration of intriguing case studies, live endoscopic image interpretation, and fees and insurance codes for perioscopy.
In addition to gaining a complete understanding of dental endoscope technology, participants will learn about an innovative approach called RPE - Regenerative Periodontal Endoscopy. Find out first hand the exciting possibilities in non-surgical endoscopic periodontal regeneration.
